What does the Fast-Forming Teams diagnostic measure?
The diagnostic measures your organisation’s team formation capability across five dimensions, scored from your answers to 18 questions. Each dimension is drawn from peer-reviewed research on team effectiveness: meta-analyses of trust in teams, Amy Edmondson’s research on psychological safety, studies of how information flows across teams, the team-building evidence on role clarity, controlled studies of team debriefs, and large-scale comparative studies of team charters.
- Interpersonal Trust. Measures whether people in your teams ask for help, admit mistakes, and say what they really think.
- Adaptive Communication. Measures whether airtime is shared and information flows across teams, not just through leaders.
- Role Clarity & Shared Purpose. Measures whether new teams know what they exist to deliver and who owns which decisions from week one.
- Constructive Tension. Measures whether disagreement happens openly, stays about the work, and ends in real commitment.
- Collective Accountability. Measures whether commitments hold without leaders chasing, and peers flag slippage to each other.
Who is the diagnostic for?
It is built for HR, People and business leaders who want new teams to form on purpose rather than by luck. If you lead one specific team day to day, the New Team Scorecard is the better fit. For organisations that form teams often, the HR partnership model shows how formation becomes a repeatable internal capability, supported by facilitated team coaching and workshops.

What is the difference between the diagnostic and the New Team Scorecard?
The diagnostic measures how your organisation forms teams in general, and is built for HR, People and business leaders. The New Team Scorecard measures one specific team and is built for the person leading it. Many HR leaders take the diagnostic themselves, then send the scorecard to their newest team leads.
How much does the full Fast-Forming Teams programme cost?
The founding rate is quoted on the call. The first three founding teams get the full six-week programme in exchange for a written case study, with behavioural profiles for up to 8 people included. Book the free 15-minute review and we will take it from there.
David O’Grady, executive and team coach in Ireland, helps new teams form faster. The diagnostic is the organisation-level instrument for the six-week Fast-Forming Teams™ programme.
