What does the New Team Scorecard measure?

The New Team Scorecard measures how a new team is forming across five dimensions, scored from your answers to 16 questions. Each dimension is drawn from peer-reviewed research on team effectiveness: meta-analyses of trust in teams, Amy Edmondson’s research on psychological safety, studies of how information flows across a team, the team-building evidence on role clarity, controlled studies of team debriefs, and large-scale comparative studies of team charters.

  • Interpersonal Trust. Measures whether people ask for help, admit mistakes, and say what they think in the room.
  • Adaptive Communication. Measures whether airtime is shared and information flows between people, not just through the leader.
  • Role Clarity & Shared Purpose. Measures whether everyone can say what the team exists to deliver and who owns which decisions.
  • Constructive Tension. Measures whether disagreement happens openly, stays about the work, and ends in real commitment.
  • Collective Accountability. Measures whether commitments hold without chasing, and peers flag slippage to each other.

Who is the New Team Scorecard for?

It is built for leaders and managers of new teams: a new leadership team, a project or programme team, a team after a restructure or merger, or an existing team with new members. If you lead the team day to day, this is your instrument. If you are an HR or People leader looking at team formation across the whole organisation, the organisation-level diagnostic is the better fit, and the HR partnership model shows how team formation becomes a repeatable internal capability.

Frequently asked questions

How long does the New Team Scorecard take?

About 4 minutes. It is 16 questions answered on a five-point scale, plus three short context questions. Your results appear on screen as soon as you finish.

Is the New Team Scorecard really free?

Yes. The scorecard is free and confidential. You get your team’s forming stage, a 0–100 score across five dimensions, three practical moves for your biggest gap, and a ready-to-run 45-minute meeting agenda. No charge, no obligation.

What happens with my results?

Your full report appears on screen right away, and you can print or save it as a PDF. If you tick the consent box, we also email your results to you, with occasional practical notes on team formation. You can unsubscribe at any time.

How accurate is the scorecard?

It is your read of the team, from where you sit. Each dimension is scored from three or four questions, so treat the results as a structured conversation starter rather than a verdict. The 45-minute agenda in your report is built for exactly that conversation.

How much does the full Fast-Forming Teams programme cost?

The founding rate is quoted on the call. The first three founding teams get the full six-week programme in exchange for a written case study, with behavioural profiles for up to 8 people included. Book the free 15-minute review and we will take it from there.

David O’Grady, executive and team coach in Ireland, helps new teams form faster. The scorecard is the before-and-after instrument for the six-week Fast-Forming Teams™ programme and pairs with facilitated team coaching and workshops.
